This song presents the situation in which a man stands in a place of a broken relationship and is torn between choosing to leave this relationship or trying to fix it. He asks his partner if it is time for him to finally go or maybe if she will break up upon his departure or just get over him and move on. The man cannot get rid of the memories from their past relationship when they were still teenagers and made each other promises to be with each other forever even though both of them were very naïve at that time. Now having become adults, he cannot trust these promises anymore and realizes that probably no one else will accept his faults and hard-headed character like she did before. He understands that his girlfriend has gradually grown away from him and closer to somebody else and regrets thinking that maybe he had some share in spoiling the relationship. He is scared that after leaving her, she will just run away to this somebody. Thus, this song is all about the failed relationship, regret, insecurity, inability to forget the past and the fear that his partner will build a new life with somebody else after him.
