Watch It Burn Lyrics

Katy Perry 5.0 (1 reviews)
Katy Perry's song "Watch It Burn" is a pop song about empowerment, which means overcoming a bad relationship and accepting the fact that a person is more valuable than experiencing pain all the time. The lyrics depict a period of many years of feeling underestimated and abused until the moment comes when a change is inevitable. The images of a match burning and watching everything burn mean that one needs to forget the past, which consisted of suffering, anger, and negative connections in order to enter the next stage of life. In contrast to songs about revenge, this piece is more about healing and forgiveness.

Watch It Burn Song Lyrics

For years, you fed me only crumbs
You paid me only dust
Said I was too hard to love, woah
For years, I tried to rise above
Was only light and love
But now I'm, "Shut the fuck up," woah

You know I gave and I gave
Now I'm giving up
There's nothing more you can take
No, I don't want to cause a scene
But give me the gasoline

Tonight's the night, I light a match
Throw it hard behind my back
Gonna try to forgive and forget
Light a cigarette, and watch it burn
With the past, I'ma breathe in the ash
Gonna try to forgive and forget
Light a cigarette, and watch it burn

Thank you for showing me the pain
This was not a mistake
The mistakе would be to stay, ayy

You know I gave and I gave
Now I'm giving up
Thеre's nothing more you can take
No, I don't want to cause a scene
But give me the gasoline

Tonight's the night, I light a match
Throw it hard behind my back
Gonna try to forgive and forget
Light a cigarette, and watch it burn
With the past, I'ma breathe in the ash
Gonna try to forgive and forget
Light a cigarette, and watch it burn

I'm gonna get what I deserve
I'm sorry, I know that it hurts
Finally I put myself first
And watch it burn
I'm gonna get what I deserve
I'm sorry, I know that it hurts
Finally I put myself first
And watch it burn
